Bored at work, and I thought it would be interesting to try to estimate an actual number of raiders vs. total subscriptions.

It's freaking impossible to be completely accurate, but this is how I came up with the numbers (tried to err on the low side at any point):

I counted the number of guilds on each server who have killed Imzok, then the number who have killed anything in VP, and the number who have killed any avatar. Then I multiplied the number who have killed Imzok by 35 main members- I picked 35 because it's lower than my own guild but probably higher than most hardcore guilds. Since these numbers are off of the server progression lists on these forums, they're only as good as the people who go to their forums. Some numbers might be high from guilds that have cleared t1 and disbanded/reformed, but there are probably also guilds who do not report their progress (though I doubt THAT many...maybe 1-2 per server).

That came up with 210 total guilds who have killed Imzok...7350 raiders
Guilds who are in VP - 63 with 2205 raiders
Of those guilds only 10 have killed an avatar..350 raiders

From MMOGCHART.COM » Charts it's reported that EQ2 has 200,000 subscribers...which may or may not be accurate and doesn't account for alts, but it's the best I can find since SOE doesn't release that stuff.

Sooo that means that approximately 3.6% of EQ2's population is a raider. With 1.1% being in VP, and only .0175% are killing contested.

Here's the numbers from each server from the progression threads(notice a couple don't have any listed, and a couple only showed those who have cleared).

I didn't realize EQ2 had such a tiny market share, and that games other than WoW where kicking the shit out of it so bad. Explains a lot though.

did you get your raiding lists solely from the progression lists? then mind, that not every guild is listed in there. also, not every guild has 35 members, which seems to be what you were guessing

I know that...did you read my post? lol I used 35 as a probably slightly lower average. If you use 40 per guild, then there's about 8400 raiders total...or 4.2% of the total population. Feel free to extrapolate further by adding more guilds if you want..

I'd bet if the 200k subscriber numbers are even close, that you could take away 10% of those at least for alts...and add probably 10% more raiders (who aren't on these forums) for a total of about 5.1% of the population being a raider (that's using 40 members per guild as well) as a MAX raider population.

id agree to state to say raiders are way below 10% of the population which is not that unlikely because there are many people primarily tradeskilling or playing it for the ingame economics or for RMT and theres many many people just playing the game to have fun with logging in like 2-3 times per week and play for like 3 hours, whatever time they got to spare. the general conclusion is, raiders are a minority, and thats quite well known imo

Are those guilds in VP having cleared VP? Because you have blackburrow as one.... Saints of norrath, yet 5 or 6 guilds are in VP. You have to check who has killed leviathan as opposed to who has cleared VP>

Those are guilds who have killed at least 1 named in VP.....except for the servers who only listed guilds who have cleared VP totally. Blackburrow looks to only list those who have cleared as well. Also, if the server progression threads aren't up to date, than this isn't either (some were last edited in february for instance).
