This game wont survive by simply shoring up the current mechanics. It needs a new system with actual forethought and progression paths from the start. They said they had it right 2 times already but we can clearly see they dont. Third times a charm, is it not?
And FFS, diminishing returns has got to go. There is no way for our characters to grow except via procs and what not. That is just lame.

Do you have any memory of what they did when they first added diminishing returns to resists?

IIRC they chopped resists on all existing items by half. Because they seemed to know that for the concept to work, they couldn't exhaust the range right off the bat. A basic concept which most players on this site still actively refuse to have a clue about.

Are you implying that resists actually matter now and we are all just ignorant about it? Does Illuminator, master of the wiseman oneliners, possess knowledge that the rest of the raiding community does not? Probably not. Resists are fucked. At least back in the KoS days you actually had to try to get them up. Now they dont even factor in.

For people that aren't completely worthless pussies that want everything handed to them on a silver platter, there should be difficulty associated with good loot. And personally, I think the difficulty in EQ2 has been a joke for quite awhile. It should be up there with every person in the raid being able to beat Battletoads without dying.

Wow, you didn't even try to use your brain to parse what I wrote. The point is that diminishing returns is absolutely fine provided that they use the right curve function. You know, the thing that combines your level and the target level and a raw value and turns it into a percentage.
But think twice before you nag on about resists meaning something vital, not everyone feels like dragging off their favorite gear to dress like a fucking hobo for an encounter, especially after "working" past mind-numbing trash to get there.
