Xa'rgo The Cursed - strat?

I have tried to take this guy down probably half a dozen times with little variance in the result - splat. I'm pretty much positive I'm missing something really obvious and considered posting this under noob questions, but just thought I'd ask.
1st attempt, tank gets popped like a fly ball and by the time he lands half the group is dead.

2nd attempt, tank positions himself against a ledge to prevent lift, but he just spends 5 seconds floating 2 feet off the ground while the group gets pummeled.

3rd attempt, everybody bunches together in tight area, didn't work out too well, AE hit wiped out some of the weaker members.

Every other attempt hasn't changed much...have used rescue to regain hate after getting popped, but only helps temporarily.

Any hints? I have thought about potions, AE avoidance, and such but those would only be temporary help.

Group makeup is mix of high 70's/80 with 80 tank.

Pull him into one of the corners at the base of the stairs and explode him. Have the squishes stand back, mob facing into the corner, etc... if you get aggro, move to the tank.

Gosh i you think he's hard with a group you should try 3 boxing him... boy thats a hoot!

That kick up seems to be new, I dont think he did that before.

I've boxed him before also (me two boxing SK and defiler, wife two boxing Fury and warlock), it's annoying but only the warlock ever died and we've killed it several times.

Did more research and he apparently has a hate debuff...which might explain the quick target switches.

Pet pull to previous room for ultra safe mode. No one gets kicked far/high/into mobs.

We always just pull him with our backs turned to the entrance to CoA. This works especially good if you get him after exiting the zone. Yeah he can do a frontal and hit everyone, but it's not that bad.
