Kudzu is a non-native plant to the US, and was introduced in the South from Japan. It was originally introduced for landscaping and as ground cover. The problem is, the plant somehow grows up to several feet per day in the hot and humid conditions of the South, and has now taken over 8 million acres of land. Nobody has ever been successful in getting rid of it.
