unrest, final nail in coffin of progression?
well.... title basically says it all....
some of the loot in unrest has freaking uber effects...... sure... nothing to replace gog with.... but still.... i've seen several pieces of legen stuff linked that drop in unrest that i would wear over some of the raid dropped stuff i have..... and unrest is by no means hard (atleast not if it ocmes to the actual fights)........

Re: unrest, final nail in coffin of progression?
Maybe you could enlighten me. How is the zone? People are already clearing it? I haven't played EQ2 in a good while, so I'm a bit in the dark.
EDIT;
Wow, I checked the official forums and apparently it is extremely easy. That's a shame I had hoped it would take a while for someone to beat.

Re: unrest, final nail in coffin of progression?
some beat it within 4 hours the first time they went in (and thats only the best i've seen... the topshot people did it prolly far faster), figuring out the scripts to open doors and such shit is what makes it a bit harder than you average zone like den or oob....
the fights are no harder than in cov.....
and then you see item's with 28 sta, 28 wis, 80 power and ft 10 (chel'drak loot has has lower ft values).....
there's a ring with a 1k deaggro proc (the usual 1,8 times per minute), that still has 28 wis and 28 int, decent power and resists....
and so on.....

Re: unrest, final nail in coffin of progression?
I don't see a problem with the loot in Unrest. It's perfectly in line for a level 70 heroic zone. I think the problem is, it seems SOE have finally got a new item person who is now doing the job very well (which isn't a problem at all, let me explain).
Once new item person replaces or adds new items to raid zones these items won't look so good. It's just that new item person has really highlighted how much old item girl sucked. I think Unrest is a good indicator of things to come. Do you think it's a coincidence that all the items there have great new effects barely a couple of weeks since SOE said they're looking into itemisation and would like our thoughts?
Unrest just happens to be the first zone that has new items, since it's a new zone. If you ask me, the future is bright. However, some people always want to moan about things without thinking it through so go ahead.

Re: unrest, final nail in coffin of progression?
I've seen a lot of the loot in there, I got no problem with anything that drops. The zone is supposed to be the highest end instance short of Nizara. How in the hell is it not harder than CoV? Will you really ever be able to finish this in under an hour?
What are these amazing new effects? Someone in my guild linked a ring with Regen VIII. The stats were nice but regen VIII? How is that game breaking? The chestplates only drop off the last mob and I gotta be honest, after 3 hours (assuming you get half decent at doing the zone) I think you deserve a legendary chest drop.
This is the end game for non-raiders, as good as it gets. I'm not sure where your expectations are.

its a pretty fun end game zone for non-raiders. I wont spend much time there though. Cleared it the first walk through in about 3 hours and had a brigand tanking and only 4 people in the group for most of the shit in the house, picked up a bruiser when we hit the basement and finished it with 5

Re: unrest, final nail in coffin of progression?
I found the zone pretty easy as well. The only thing I really noticed was the mobs had a few more hp then usual.
That could have been the group I was in though, we had a few people that whern't kicking out decent dps.

Re: unrest, final nail in coffin of progression?
with no harder than cov i didnt refer to the lenght, but to the difficulty of the fights, the puzzle stuff is only a slowdown for the first few times, then you will have them memorized and spoilers will be everwhere.
my main problem with it is that i got fabled equip from x4 named's that is worse than some of the stuff that drops in there....
you know... week after week, month after month of having exp debt that slows you down when grinding aa's, saving up and spending dkp, you have to realize that some heroic instance drops better stuff.....

People demand (with some justification) beter itemisation and more interesting effects. SoE bring them at their first real opportunity and people complain - that's kind of couoter-productive.
The real issue people are complaining about is that these effects have not been added to raid loot retrospectively. Some will understand that given time and staff limitations it won't happen any time soon/at all this expansion. Others will scream and demand those effects, changes and loot upgrades to be added to high end loot now, this second and so it goes on...
But it does leave us in the situation where, for example, some loot from Chel drak, former raid mob poster dragon, drops items with FT I & II and some heroic mobs are dropping loot with FT VIII upwards. That's just one example.
SoE have already admitted some itemisation has been poor and they wish to improve on that area. The loot coming out of here hopefully signals better things for the future game. People need to remember there is only so much resource available with a relatively low consumer base.
Pro.
