There's hotkey plugins for winamp. Unbind the keypad in EQ2 and bind it to winamp controls.

EQ2 not having an embedded MP3 player isn't the problem. You wanting to listen to external music instead of the EverQuest 2 soundtrack is the problem. The impetus is on you to work around that.
What comes next, an embedded e-mail program? Word processor? AIM chat program? Why don't we get rid of Windows and just have the PC boot up into EverQuest 2?
WinAmp has configurable global hotkeys that make its background use trivial.

I am thinking about getting a slingbox, and I would like to be able to watch TV in a small box on my screen while I am running around killing things. Wife won't let me have a TV anywhere near my desk :*****(((((((
