    Default Vigilant Instance - Rescue - Boss Question

    Anyone else have any issues with the boss that summons the adds and ports you all over the place?

    I think we have the basic strat down, but the issues we're having are wierd. What we do is burn him as he's coming down the ramp, then he ports to the side for some odd reason, then finally gets into final position under the frontier portal.

    Next, he summons his adds. We burn the mage adds, leave 1 or 2 of the others up. We then continue to DPS him. We are having issues with him randomly porting the tank in front of him which causes him to turn wierd, or fearing folks off the platform even when walking, or simply continually porting folks to the point where it gets rediculous.

    I've heard that the ports are controlled by DPS checks? And then... there's the two fights where we've gotten him in the 20% range only to have him completely reset.

    We've destroyed every other zone so far except for Erudin Royal Palace with the same group we have for this encounter (Pally, Temp, Mystic, Warlock, Wizard, Troub-All 90, all 220+ AA). This one just seems exceptionally retarded for some reason.

    We got that earlier after like a dozen of attempts, and yeah either we haven't found a gimmick, or the fight is retarded. Chain ports were stupid, especially on the tank(yay have to step in so he doesn't start gibbing people with his Quadruple Blade attack), combined with random stuns, and curses and what not. I'm not even sure how you're supposed to deal with all this crap with only one healer if he gets cursed, then tank ported and rooted/feared/stunned since you can't dispel it without running up to him and doing a group cure. We eventually got him down in a semi lucky attempt(at some point he gibbed 3 people at the same time, but we recovered with combat rez), but that didn't make a lot of sense.

    Another reason I have no idea how you're honestly supposed to solo heal this, we often got ported multiple times in a row, and consdering how much burst the boss does on the tank, he'd be dead with only one healer, and since he doesn't have like low hp either, it's not like you're not going to run into the issue at some point unless extremely lucky.

    Damn some of the new x4 bosses were easier than that.

    He can be solo healed although it is a royal pain in the ass with the ports

    It's no so much the HPs, its the fact that you spend 80% of the fight dealing with nonsense. We had a mystic that could spirit tap, and dirge 100% rezzes and still had issues.

    And, to make it worse, the fights that went well fookin reset which left us with a bad taste in our mouths and banging our heads on the wall.

    We countered the ranged blade attacks often with dumbfires, etc if the tank got ported away.

    The whole encounter just seems to have a lot of added nonsense, add in the reset situation and it's just dumb.

    And it's not like its a lack of gear or skill, the rest of the zone was mundanely easy for us. Half the time we fight the entire room full of mobs at once just to give the healers something to do. Either we are missing some small detail or need a slight tweak in something we are doing. That or... well... its just a retarded zerg fest.

    We've had 0 issues with any of the other zones (other than royal palace which we only zoned into once). We figured out most scripts without much pain, and were generally one of the firsts to do the zones (disco'd quest items). This one just seemed to have our number. Guess we'll see when we go back.

    It sounds like you got most of the strat down. The only thing left is that you need 2 people to melee him, so if the tank gets ported a scout/second tank gets sacrificed to the quadruple axe attack instead of a healer.

    And they can still both get ported, or your healer can get ported for extended periods of time(and randomly stunned by the vigilant arcane stun > knockback+power drain on termination), which in most situations isn't too good. Definitely not a well tuned encounter imo, especially since the rest of the zone is a snoozefest. We killed that dog boss with the 2 adds at the entrance and all the beholders in the other room(due to AEs) and that was fun, but this last boss was just pure bullshit.

    More DPS = Less Ports
    When he ports you, you always have enough time to run back before he snipes you.
    (Most of the time...)

    Higher level trauma pots work to stop the stun if you get it while running back.

    Other than that, yeah this boss can be frustrating if you don't bring a good crew.

    You have time to run back if he doesn't port you right away again. I've had times where I was healing, he ported me in the back, and before I can take more than 3 steps, I get ported on the other side, then ported back on top of him, which was convenient, but pretty crazy. Add to that the fact he can charm or fear the tank, and that he casts the curse more often than a single healer can dispel it, and yeah it still seems pretty stupid. I mean, it's a boss in a heroic instance, not a raid mob or anything, you shouldn't need to be lucky AND bring pots AND have the perfect group setup AND be raid geared to kill him, which seems to be the case, or very close to. Not saying he should be nerfed, but there should be a way to control the ports so they're not so random, or at least put port immunity for 20secs on people after a port so you don't get ported multiple times in a row.

    Anyway got a few people flagged for the x2 so don't really care much about it anymore.

    In beta we tried to get him so you could only be ported once every 20 sec, and you gained a trauma immunity for 5s once you did get ported. But it was near the end of beta, and they had stop listening =I
