Default Red adornments become super easy to get. good or bad?

    http://www.eq2flames.com/dev-tracker...justments.html

good move by SOE or bad move?

We have been looking at itemization and making some modifications to make them more desirable. Here are some of the things we are changing.

    • Added red adornments slots to all raid dropped armor in the Sentinel’s Fate.
    • Modified red slot adornment Focus Effect: Critical Chance so that it can be placed on hand slot items as well as feet slot.
    • Modified red slot adornment Focus Effect: Potency so it can be placed on chest slot items as well as forearm slot.
    • Raid armor drops were renamed so that they could more easily be identified when awarding them.
      • Venomous (Scout Chain) – No Change
      • Vicious (Offensive Plate) – Savage
      • Viscid (Summoner Cloth) – Baleful Caller’s
      • Vivacious (Priest Plate) – Revered
      • Voidshell (Tank Plate) – Hulking
      • Vociferous (Mage Cloth) – Archaic Runed
      • Vivid (Shaman Chain) – Enduring Spirit
      • Voracious (Offensive Leather) – Pugilist’s
      • Versatile (Defensive Leather) – Tenacity
    • Sentinel’s Fate raid drop chest, leg, and shoulder slot items in most cases will now have more critical mitigation.
    • Many fabled pieces of jewelry in Sentinel’s Fate have had resistances added to them to make them desirable items sought for increasing resistances on fights that require it.
    • Many fabled jewelry and weapons in Sentinel’s Fate have had effects added to them to make them a choice of upgrading from items obtained in The Shadow Odyssey.
    • Added yellow adornment slots to all Sentinel’s Fate legendary items.
    • Added yellow slot adornments that are purchased with Marks of Manaar from a new vendor in Paineel. They follow the slot and stat standards that exist on non-class specific red slot adornment effects but are less powerful than their red slot counterparts.
    • Brellium jewel crafted resistance gear has had stats added to it to make the swapping to them less of a hit to your overall stats.

Good move. Finally SF gear might be better then TSO gear.

Agreed, this needed to be done from day one. Cause otherwise until you are killing end mobs on easy mode or hard modes you might as well wear mostly TSO t4 pieces cept maybe legs and chest if you can stand to lose your six piece. A lot of classes simply can't/won't give up their old set bonuses. Especially since several of the t1 pieces are side/down grades compared to their t4 counterparts anyways.

Now that there is a means to replicate t4 bonuses, people won't be shackled to them anymore and you'll see more people breaking out of their old sets. This will make the entry mobs worth farming and give people a way to meaningfully gear up to prepare for hard modes/etc.

Now they just have to make doing the hard modes worthwhile by having the better raid gear stand out a bit more in comparison to the entry level stuff. The end named easy mode + contested loot should be significantly better than the entry level stuff and the hard mode gear should again be significantly better than the middle tier stuff. Otherwise getting upgrades won't nearly be fun or even probably seen as worth it, if all you're getting out of the deal is like .4 potency, 8 int, 2 crit mit, etc etc.

So if they can fix that, I think loot will be in a decent place imo.

At the moment, I'm more interested to see how they balance this yellow adornment stuff they're introducing.
    Koers (90 Enchanter)
    Jiumenos (90 Fury)
    Kronch (90 Berserker)
    Iskisk (80 Mystic)
    Gnomnk (80 Monk)
    Other little nubs.

Yellows are just things like the flurry adorns but with less % on them from the way it reads, so reds will still be better but now instance players have something to spend marks on.

I think this is a step in the right direction. But given the SOE itemization track record im sure they will screw it up. The whole resist stupidity show just how clueless they are.

    I just hope they:
Make the SF T1 gear slightly better than TSO T4.
Make enough separation in SF T2 and T3 to be worth it.

I doubt this will happen, but we can always hope. It just so stupid they didnt do this to start. Its not like this is that complex.

I lol at jewelry getting resists. This is classic SOE stupidity coming back to bite them. They add high resists to armor, then a week later add resists to jewelry. God they have absolutely no planning whatsoever. It hard to believe they can be this incompetent.

I hope SOE has enough sense to get some new people I doubt they could do much worse.

The zone artwork is about the only thing they got right. I heard they got some new blood in that department.

T2 was just a red-slot version of T1, so I assume there is no more T1. Just T2, T3 and oddball pieces of armor, although given that there were never set bonuses on T2 and T3, they only really constitute a "tier" due to having same name.

I think this is how it should have been from the start of SF. Every armor piece gets Red adorn. You pick any BP (or legs or whatever) you want to wear and stick whatever red adorn you want into it. This gets away from everyone wearing the exact same 7 pieces, which was the goal in getting away from sets.

    Well done.

It's good in that people will finally be able to drop TSO gear.

It's not enough though, Hard-mode raid loot needs to be DRASTICLY upgraded, otherwise there is absolutely no reason to bother.

Red adorn slots should of been avaliable on all new raid gear from the start.

And echoing what others have said, yes, now there needs to be clear upgrades between "tiers" of raid dropped armor.
