That being said, good looking zones, tight quests, perfect for a newby zone. I never once thought WoW either.

I also immedialtely moved my Freeport guys there for the houses. I am now gonna build a dungeon in my basement. Sweeet.

i got my brigands name all set out and ready too go. now i just need too settle on a look for my emo fae (took me 6 hours on my hippy fae, couldnt get the wings too not look like shit). will prolly spend some time in the char editor again tomorrow before i finalise it. as for content, aint really looked around much but yeah its really all compact down into one area. i like it that way though, i always get tired of having too run my ass all the way across a zone too talk too an npc then run all the way back when i coulda just gone and killed shit and got the same thing done 10 times faster (unless im ap grinding)

Im not joking, that zone is a complete, 100% rip off of WoW newbie zones. I actually felt like I was playing WoW while I ran an Arasai around. SOE are trying to get new people to play. This zone is designed for those same new people. Therefore, the quests are designed for people who've never played EQ2 before. Of course they are going to be easy.

The nameds (that "aren't worthy of a name") are to add a little bit of excitement into the newbies gaming, whislt producing an actual story. It's called fun, it's that little cherry on the top of your cake, the cinnamon sprinkle on your coffee, it's just a little bit extra.

WoW is the newbiest game out there, it's also highly successful. Why wouldn't they copy their newbie zones? When someone comes up with a great idea, it's usually a good plan to copy it.

I don't really like the "quest camps". They did this in VG too. It is ok for a noob zone, but you just hop from one camp to the next when leveling up. It is the same thing, over and over. You get 15 quests and then go kill everything around you for 6 quest updates on each kill.

It gets old fast. I heard they are giving Lavastorm and Everfrost a revamp since no one uses them now really, I hope they don't make those two zones with these quest camps.

Quest Camps don't work any better than anything else... hell they've been in EQ2 since launch... Feerrott anyone? TBH I played DLW for about an hour or so last night... it wasn't so compact that I was doing SWG Fed'Ex runs where I could turn two circles and finish a quest but I also didn't have to run all the way across the world to do one step of an 81 step quest either.

It has a nice smooth, natural progression, and really you can skip the quest camp and move along at any time it gives you options for how how you progress... I like the fact that plain and simple there is more to do... More than there is in either of the outposts... probably more than GFay too, but I only did that for a couple hours and was more interested in getting out of the starter area.

Was it overly challenging? No but it didn't force me into... "do some quests, ride a boat, buy a home, learn about my race, do some more quests (that if you didn't get right on the boat are now mostly gray)" that has been going on since launch.. it was a nice refreshing change and I liked the look of the new zone.
