make contested about the fight, not the journey. i'd like to see it be a couple of "instances" that pop at random times in a multitude of random places around the world and are dynamic. By dynamic i mean not the same 30s Stun AE, heals at 10%, adds every 25%, quick cure that trama bullshit we see now. Make it so you have to learn the strat every time. Make the instance despawn when someone kills it and announce to the server when its done. The key though is to make it accessible to more guilds and make it completely different every time so that its about the 24 people in the zone, not the strat they found online or got from a friend or got from the Devs when their monkey asses tested the content in beta.

I can hear the wails of despair at making it an instance now.. oh noes others might get a shot at it. Not if they dont have the skills they wont. Making something an instance that is 100% different every time would certainly make taking down a "contested" zone a feat worthy of respect. Having to actually compete against other guilds who are in the zone at the same time as you learning the same encounter you are would I think sort out who really knows what they are doin and who is just gettin by.

In eq1 everything was contested and people knew alot of guilds could kill them. So while we wanted to get the loot from them it wasn't because we thought we were special. It was because we got it first. But that still didn't make your guild good. What made your guild good was clearing content that others could not. You know like actual skill not time. This is also a by product of the eq2 system that alot of content is relatively easy and majority of classes require little to no skill. But shit the way people act here they act like they are not easily replaced or something special. It makes me laugh everytime some tard come shere and proclaims how great they are when in reality most smucks are just as good given the same gear and setups. Let me clarify this again most people are just as good. There are a few retarded players out there.
Put 99% of the guilds out there in an instance with their own Matron. How many do you think will give up?

Just because you and your guild are rejects and can't juggle contested content and RL doesn't mean other peoples can't.

The instance concept is retarded (for a MMORPG). The first dev to implement it in such a game had the worst idea ever as it totally kills the main idea of what a MMORPG is supposed to be. Probably the next generation of MMORPGs will consist of an improved "battle.net" in 3D and awesome graphics, where you choose your group mates and maybe kill a few mobs here and there, then do your own instances without interacting with anyone but your group. Hmmm wait, we're almost already there.
