With the onslaught of the MEGA zones maybe they can have a huge ( a true epic ) that randomly flies around and just mauls people. Kinda like Grimfeather did back when you were a nublet in Thundering Steppes. Only difference is he is fast, HUGE, and bad ass.

So if u get to pull a contested 2 times BEFORE the competing guild gets there and still dont kill it,does that make u a whiny POS b/c u cant kill it BEFORE we do? just a question.

Best case id like to see is

Raid Zones............

3-4 raid zones at least 1 that would be contested.Not the shit like ToS currently is but something like NToV/VT from eq1.

4-6 Epic X2 and X3.
8+ Epic X4.

All with varied spawn timers.
Also Untrackable.
For fun some would be invised or stealth.
And make alot of em non static and have em roam across the zone.

Its about fucking time that you remembered you were a fairly well known name(at least amongst the class) in eq1 and bring up more eq1 shit.

Where u at Aandian? I just want to hear some more BS about how u have "Theoretically" already beatne ALL avatars even though u havent killed 1. All i hear is whaa whaa im a cry baby who deserves to kill stuff even though we havent sucessfully killed ANY Avatar. Man im glad im leaving. Anyone need a tissue?

I might be a noob, but I think what's needed to improve contested is actual competition.
A "contest" implies that there are people competing, not that whoever showed up first wins by default.

So I kinda like the idea of 4 raid groups minimum. Only not spawning something together. But rather participating in a contest. It would work like this: There is some sort of sign-up for guilds or raid groups. Once 4 different raids sign up, there is a competition. Something specifically designed to test each raid. So it might be a dummy mob and whoever gets highest DPS over 15 minutes wins. Something like that (though not that exacly, maybe each raid is ranked on a combination of stats, like a sporting event). The "winning" raid gets a key to an instance with a mob (like an avatar). The key is temporary for 24 hours. If the mob is killed within 24 hours, a new contest is up. If a mob is not killed, the key goes to the 2nd place raid for 24 hours. You could also have contests with only 2 raids or 3 raids. Maybe you even get access to the same mob with different loot table. Beating one other raid in the contest gives you basic loot table, while beating out 3 raids for access gives you best.

So in the end the point is this: if there is no contest, there is no contested. Because winning loot from a contested mob should involve a contest, otherwise you are just getting loot for showing up, which is no different from it being a regular instance.

Simply wow, this has got to be the biggest open mouth insert foot post ive read yet. contested is just that, if they form faster, they kill it, oh well, 5-7 days, scout the shit out of them and hope you can form faster this time around.
