Default A quick guide to Public Quests

So, I’ve been running the public quests alot, and I wrote up this guide to help everyone out.

    Storm Gorge:
Of the Public Quests, this is the harder of the 2 for a PUR. You have to contest with lag, dwarves who die alot and loads of ^^^ attacking you.
Now, this mob will automatically scale to X4 simply by having a x4 raid there, at least. The bad news is that the dwarves control the difficulty. If all of they die it scales down to a lower level. Thankful there is a supply runner who can give you items to revive, heal, buff and grant a damage shield to the dwarves.
Now, SoE has yet to fix this, but the dwarves don’t always spawn. If this happens, all the rime will just run down and stand about, making pulling a lot easier. Now, the only thing to watch out for here are the mounted dudes in the 2nd/3rd wave. At 50% they will get off their mount and the mount will also attack. Given how there can be up to 60 mobs fighting at once, another 60 isn’t going to help. The mounts also taunt so have an MA and burn fast.

    Ring War:
The ring war is a push over. The lag is less, there is a timer/mob order and the x2s hit like pansies.
To scale this to the X4 you need a full raid, and then you need a lot of DPS and a mob order. The way I have always done this is have groups 3-4 and all the stragglers outside of raid kill the recruits, normal kromifs and then the veterans while Grp 1-2 kill the heroics and burn, but not kill the epics.
Once the recruits, normal and veteran giants are dead, kill the heroic and the epic. If you did this fast enough (in about 4 minutes), you should get the X4.
The x4 is just a tank and spank.

    Loot:
For public quests, there are 5 levels of loot.
Difficulty 1 (easy solo) drops a thrumming cache
Difficulty 2 (hard solo/smallgroup) drops resonating caches
Difficulty 3 (group difficulty) drops reverberating caches
Difficulty 4 (Hard group/ small raid) drops pulsating caches
Difficulty 5 (Raid boss) drops humming caches
On top of that, these caches have around a 25% chance to be exquisite. These have better gear in them, and at difficulty 4/5, the exquisite caches can give yellow adorn gear.
On top of that, at difficulty 5, you have a chance (estimated around 10%, maybe less) to get a third piece of loot, in the form of a rune, fabled set chest piece or a fabled yellow adorn weapon. The caches also have a chance to give masters.
Now, if you have a x4 raid and some stragglers, the stragglers will still get the same cache as people in the raid, provided they help out and damage the mobs. To quote Feldon34 “You will still have an equal chance at the best chests, as long as you participated fully in the encounter.”

    Lag
Currently the lag is server side. Turning off mounts/pets/gazebos will increase your frame rate, but the spell lag will remain.

    Future PQ

There are gonna be about 3 more PQ's, released over the new few GUs, including one in EW.

Well, I think I covered everything important, any questions or things to add?

How about they fix the server lag before they put in any more PQ's. That would be a great start, although i guess its not horrible that I can join a raid.. get 3 spell casts in the entire time and still walk away with money and loot lol..great system /sigh

    great write up though

Somthing to mention I think is that in Stormgorge it is possible to get 2 items from the supply runner by getting one, using it on the dwarf (mug o might or slice o matic) then grabbing another one.

Any non healer, bard or enchanter below 90 should just take heal o matics and focus on keeping the the dwarf alive.

Macros are your friend. /target thurgadin supply runner I think is the right one (can't check at the moment obviously). This really helps when people are standing ontop of the runner as you can use this maco, then press h and still get what you need.

For Storm gorge it's important to let the big dwarf tank the entire thing apart from the riders if doing the full difficulty version, which should be pulled away from where he stands and killed one by one.

Great post, I didn't even know there weremor pqs coming :!

i dont mind if they insert more PQs, in fact it gives more options
stormgorge has a nice idea, it just cant be implemented smooth due to the shitty engine
if they manage to create other PQs with some original scripts (aka just DONT use mass-encounters that take relatively long to take down) i'd highly welcome that

and tune down the AE/Oneshots of maulhammer/Aquilon
they claim that you can participate solo if you like/came to late for the raidspot
i dont see this unless your a healer or already mediocre geared

Oh yeh, if late for a raid spot, only heal o matics for you if you want to contribute imo
