Only issue is eq2 does have 3rd party programs that can tell you what is up in a zone. So the whole idea of people never knowing whats up would eventually be circumvented with one corpse in zone.

It probably some god related quest if you got that 6 man pop up, but really who knows.

If this "plane" is anything less than a raid zone I have lost ALL faith in an ability of any dev to understand what the hell is going on. I mean honestly! Plane of Fear is widely recognized as one of the most "fun" experiences in EQ1.

When they made Unrest for EQ2 I was skeptical but the zone was well done and I like it now. They kept it true to form. If this zone becomes HEROIC?!?! What in the god damn hell were the devs thinking and when did this become a good idea? Don't fuck with the classics! If you want to fuck with something make a new unique zone no one ever heard about and put that shit in it. But don't create a travesty out of one of the more fun raid zones in the original game. Are you trying to tell us all the mobs in the zone suddenly got dumber?

The ONLY possible feasible reason I can see for this is because the power of the gods isn't fully back (lore wise) but then that doesn't make any sense cause there are no "temporary" heroic zones that get upgraded to raid zones later. Which I wouldn't expect SOE to be capable of in the first place.

All the mobs in the zone are not sent to your client, they are only reported to you by a radius around you. Sure, you can sniff a few more mobs than what you can see on your screen, but not many more. It's barely over track radius.

... At least that's how it worked when they made the /wave change to mobs. Remember you could just type /wave <MobName> and if it said Name waves to . then the mob was up, if not, it wasn't up. When they fixed that in the LU, a bunch of stuff changed in the data stream.

It's entirely possibly that this has been changed since then, but I doubt it.

I don't know some of you guys are talking like eq2 should be a full time job without the fun. Yes it should be a challenge and perhaps for a casual guild a 10 hour event but for a full time hardcore raid guild isn't 5 hours 1 night of tough work enough for you? I understand you want content to play but wouldn't it be better to have lets say 10 zones that take you over 5 hours to go through rather than one that takes days? I like contested but I mean from being on a server with disso that just owned shit as soon as it spawned there should be so much contested where these top end raid guilds have to make a damn choice on whats up while the second tier can pop in and grab what the big guys missed. Ya balance the loot like ok tonight we are gunna go for our mages while some other guild tries for fighter crap. I guess the thing is I want more than 1 thing up where people are fighting over it. If its hard make it so people can't blow both away in a night put some decision in there and put some competition back in the game. Ya if having 3 guilds fighting over one mob didn't make the game go to a slideshow maybe contested would be more fun but that is not the case so give us some decisions here.

I'm guessing there will be responses along these lines incoming:

You are dead wrong. You are everything that is wrong with the game, and you're an idiot. Content needs to be harder, because we're bored and we have done everything. Anything that doesn't alleviate our boredom is irrelevant, and no one needs to enjoy the game other than the handful of people who want to devote their lives to playing a video game. Also, you're dumb.

Actually Id rather have hard content that doesn't take an obscenely long time IE emerald halls, where the challenge is the time sink and not the encounters. I think it would be really fun to have a dungeon like silent city with different skill leveled names. Seeing multiple people around in a zone fighting is just more fun, though I would not be upset if it was an instance but still difficult(aka not a time sink like EH).

Maybe, but you know spending 3 hours killing trash is not really fun to me, now if its 3 hours worth of positioning and heads up fun that is different. EH is so stupid to me, great I killed a group that does an ae stun oh wait now we have 5 more of those, oh and these next 5 groups do a knock up on the tank whoop de do. Ya EH is a good example I like the whole strat thing on each named but why bang your head against the wall over and over getting to them? Its not like killing the trash is a challenge, you've killed one you've killed them all. Why can't it be that each fight on your way to the gardener is unique. You know something thats been bothering me about people claiming they need a challenge. Have you tried mayong without wolfbanes or maybe staking the coffins. You want a tough encounter it is right there for you so take it.

I want a zone that continues to be fun and exciting 2 months after clearing it. For all I care they could make a zone that takes 10 hours to clear minimum, even for top end guilds, if it were fun and interesting. Just to clarify, fun and interesting does not equal repetitive encounters with 30 of the same mobs, all with the same skill set and 10 million health. I'd like a zone that could change each time you zoned in. More than just different named mobs to fight, but different npcs or items to interact with to create different situations in the zone.

But I doubt hardcore raiders will see the kind of content they're asking for. For three years I've heard people asking for something more, and it always seems like they end getting more of the same.
