Default My Idea for a "Smarter Loot" Drop System

All long time players like myself have been there at least a dozen times. You're running that same PITA zone for the upteenth time to get that one certain item that just refuses to drop for you. You've ran this zone at least 20 times but can't get that one super sexy item to drop that you just can't live without. You're frustrated and just want to get that item, stop running this PITA zone, and move onto more enjoyable/productive game content.
Let me elaborate with my most recent example of this. I have ran the old KOS raid zone The Halls of Seeing at least 20 times or more trying to get the Ancient Vorpal Blade to drop off of Venekor. That dragon just refuses to drop this sword for me. I have gotten at least one of everything off of his loot table, except for the one thing that I want. I have gotten multiples of most of his loot table. The sword has over an 8% chance to drop, like most of his loot table, but I've just had the worst luck ever trying to get this sword, which looks a lot like a glowing red lightsaber BTW. I want it for a set of appearance gear that I'm putting together for my main toon.
I think SOE should put some type of mechanism into the game that either tracks how many times you run a zone, and/or what loot you get from the zone. Say you run the zone 20 times and don't get the drop you want. When you run the zone for the 21st time, each time you kill a named mob (or just on the boss mob) a window pops up displaying the mob's whole loot table with the option for you to pick what piece of loot you want. This wouldn't make it to easy for players to get loot, but it wouldn't continue to penalize a player with poor luck trying to get a specific item.
This would also be nice for players with veteran toons who want to take that toon into zones and farm gear for a specific alt that they have. Instead of getting healer/caster drops for their fighter alt, they would be able to chose a fighter/scout item from the mob's loot table, if they had previously ran that zone at least 20 times.

In that case, when you open the chest you should just get a drop down menu allowing you to pick what loot you want.

I'm sure a developer will be along soon to view and comment on your idea.

    They kinda did this already.
the marks were used to buy any fabled drop in SF expac and also they used other currency for items in paineel.
not a chest drop but run the dumb zones 100 times save the marks buy the item.

Yeah, not sure how the 100 mark crap went over with other players, but I didn't waste my time with that crap. This was just something that I thought of in a frustrated moment after running Halls of seeing for the upteenth time for that damn sword that just will not drop for me. I think it would be a nice addition for those players with abyssmal looting luck.
