Woot, it dropped a scale... wait no, just a seed.

As far back as I can remember now, and it doesn't matter if it happens on the first kill on the 3rd floor or the last trash mob left, but the first legendary chest to drop on the 3rd floor is Always a seed. Any subsequent chests hold scales, but more often than not, we only get one chest on that floor.

Is this the worst luck ever? or does this happen to everyone else?
And either way, is this a bug? or intended?

What mobs do you kill when you get a seed?

Because I can bet a fair amount of anything, that you have never ever, nor ever will, see a seed off of a totem.

It is indeed the fae that drop the seeds for me, and with the duels eliminating the walking stumps, the fae are practically all that remain. It being the third floor, they should drop scales and not seeds... shouldn't they?

To be quite honest, if you are in need of more scales, don't do the third EH trial and just kill the whole third floor, including totems, doesn't take that much longer.

The fae will never drop scales, you'll only see that off of the other inhabitants of the third floor, so as I said if you are in need of scales, just clear the whole floor without trials as everyone had to do in the beginning when they aquired most of their scales.

I'll ignore your rude comment at the end there. Obviously that's how everyone does it as that's the only way it's done. For some guilds, trash just refuses to drop chests. 5 times through Throne room and only 1 trash drop total. Only 1 pair of caster gloves in FTH going in every week since release and only a handful of trash chests total there. Etc...

But back on point, the Fae on the 3rd floor of EH apparently have a much higher chance to drop a legendary chest than anything else on the floor, and when they do, they drop 1st floor loot. This is a discrepency that I feel needs to be looked into.

It is the same for us regarding trash drops, one pair of gloves of sagacity from FTH, 1 TTR trash drop from release (we've been in as soon as lockout is cleared, dunno how many times), we've even been farming the place with alts and have yet to see a second drop.

What amazes me the most about our shitty luck though is that we've seen zero (0) Insulated Sleeves of Focus from CWM since release, we still need to go since our mages are nagging me to raid the fucking zone, I don't mind too much though since it's fast but I'd rather would have seen them all have it by now so we could say fuck that zone.

Sometimes we're just unlucky with drops, that's just the way the RNG works and we have to accept it.

Back on topic though, the drops of scales on the third floor are intended to be that way so that you don't get flooded with scales, fuck if we'd get more we'd be making tons of plats selling that crap but I'm pretty sure the devs didn't intend for us to do that so they didn't put them on the loot tables of the fairies as a way of inhibiting the amounts of scales dropping.

I don't really see the problem with it, you still have the option to kill all the totems for added chances of scales if you really want them.

I suppose it'd be nice if the third floor then resembled the first and second more. You can skip some of the trash and go for the minimum needed to clear the named, but can come back later and wipe the floor clean for drops if you choose to. With the third floor, you need to clear everything before you drop the dragon, and if it's getting late, you aren't gonna waste time on totems if you don't have to. This may become less an issue as the zone is now persistant, but I still have a hard time justifying a second night in EH each week just for the chance that a scale might drop when you practically questioned if they were still on the loot table each week back when there were no duels.

Scales should be rare, but are still trash loot, and useless without the recipe book from wuoshi. Just having one doesn't give you the final product, and should a non-raider buy one on the broker, they still need to pay a guild to use a charge on their recipe.

Seed's on the Fae is an excellent thing and I hope they never change it, our scouts have enough of a problem with seed supply's already.

We still get 1-2 scales per visit from Creepferns and Loa'Sur Anacondas.

Fae's will drop Seeds as the Fae's start on the first floor, only mobs native to 3rd floor will drop scales (IE not on any other floor).
